Position Overview
M.A.R.C.H. Inc. is actively seeking Board Members to join in our mission to better serve the needs of families in Missouri. M.A.R.C.H. Inc. is a Missouri-wide, non-profit organization that provides free supervised visitation, mediation and limited-scope legal services to eligible families.
Those with a desire to make a difference in the lives of families, that also possess experience in any or all of the areas of non-profit leadership, fundraising, legislation, onboarding, accounting, law, public relations, and/or community outreach, are encouraged to apply.
The Board of Directors meets quarterly and requires 2-3 years of service.
Our organization carries D&O liability insurance.

The 3 Core Duties of the Board
- Duty of Obedience -This is the obligation to keep the enterprise focused on its intended mission, the purpose for which it was created and for which the assets were provided, by following the rules defined in the governance documents.
- Duty of Care - Members of the board are expected to be involved in the organization’s program initiatives, communicate regularly, attend meetings, and complete assignments.
- Duty of Loyalty - Board members must use their decision-making influence and authority in a manner that reflects the best interests of the enterprise, not the individual board member.

As the highest leadership body of the organization and to satisfy its fiduciary duties, the board is responsible for:
- determining the mission, goals, and values of the organization
- selecting and evaluating the performance of the executive director
- strategic and organizational planning
- ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management
- fundraising and resource development
- approving and consistently monitoring the organization’s programs and services
- enhancing the organization’s public image
- assessing its own performance as the governing body of the organization
- following the organization’s bylaws, policies, and board resolutions
- maintaining confidentiality about all internal matters of the organization
- recruiting and onboarding of new members
- annual Conference planning
Roles and Responsibilities of Individual Board Members
Each individual board member is expected to:
- know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
- faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements
- serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission
- leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve the organization’s mission
- give a meaningful financial donation, whether that be personal subsidiaries or by fundraising
- additionally, use social media and other online platforms to promote fundraising efforts on behalf of M.A.R.C.H. Inc.
- donate 1 hour of time for professional development training
- help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing, and influence public policy
- prepare for, attend, and participate in the appropriate board meetings
- participate fully in one or more committees and engage in regular meetings and activities
- share resources, skills, and contacts to benefit the organization and its mission
- volunteer at outreach events
- recruit professionals for basic and advanced training sessions
