"Mediating Values - The Heart of Interest-Based Bargaining

Program Sponsor: Johnson County Community College
Wednesday, April 7, 2021, 9:00-12:00pm
Facilitator: Dawn E. Kuhlman
Approval for CDRE and CLE with the Kansas Supreme Court and .3 CLE with the Missouri Bar is pending.

Cost: $99

Values are basic and fundamental beliefs that guide or motivate attitudes or actions. They help us to determine what is important to us. Are values negotiable in a mediation session? How do values impact the decision-making process? Do our values create a myopic view of the world that keep us from connecting with others? In this course, we will explore these questions and discuss the impact of values on the mediation session. We will also assess individual values, discuss tools for working with value discrepancy, and identify ways to weave empowerment and recognition into the mediation session.
